The sample in column (2) is the population who migrated from a region with a lower GDP per capita to a region with a higher GDP per capita; column (3) is the population who migrated from a region with a higher GDP per capita to a region with a lower GDP per capita. The sample in column (4) is migrants who moved across two different provinces; column (5) is migrants who moved within a province. Variable “city integration” here is constructed using fuzzy set theory. z statistics are in parentheses. *, **, and *** represent the significance level at 10%, 5% and 1% respectively
